The rehabilitation of a building to bring it up to the standards of comfort and insulation of a Passive House is always a challenge. This farmhouse in Gatika used to be the dining room of an old restaurant in a rural area. A new wooden structure is designed for the roofing and the original stone façade is exposed and combined with typical biscuit brick for the local traditional architecture.  A 15 cm wall lining with insulation is placed in the inside , along with triple glazing windows and an  aerothermal heating unit to achieve very low energy consumption.
