Taiwan is a country with extremely aggressive weather phenomenon as typhoons or hurricane rains, and they affect directly to the lives of the inhabitants of the island very regularly. With this basis and knowing that the Taipei Weather Station would be the country´s leader on analysis and prediction of this phenomenon, we thought that the project should had a strong conceptual shape. Additionally, the plot, situated close to the city but in an area completely surrounded by nature, gave us the challenge of integrating the building with all green elements around.

Formally the Weather Station is divided in 3 volumes that define different programs, from a wind tunnel to laboratories. These volumes had a shape that resemble a tridimensional metaphor of a typhoon; protecting themselves from the sun thru vertical metal fins that move along with the wind. These three volumes remain connected by a prestress concrete slab that fly´s in between them and creates different spaces.
